Our mission is to provide the essential and user friendly documentation for users switching to Linux from any other operating system. We believe that Ubuntu GNU/Linux can rival any of the other mainstream proprietary operating systems out there today and deliver above expectations.
Ubuntu is a user friendly operating system based on KDE, the K Desktop Environment. With a predictable 6 month release cycle and part of the Ubuntu project, Ubuntu is the GNU/Linux distribution for everyone.

Ubuntu offers a very user-friendly desktop environment out of the box (Gnome) with a host of features and is extremely easy to use and, Ubuntu is the most popular distribution out there and thus has the best support in a user community.
What we essentially want is a system that will provide the utmost comfort to you by providing the best out of the box hardware support, easy package management and good documentation. That's why we've chosen Ubuntu!

GNU/Linux has a vast amount of different distributions and in many cases our recommended distribution (Ubuntu) might not work for you. We do not regard Ubuntu higher than any other distribution but merely recommend and use it in our mission to provide a transition standard for the GNU/Linux operating system.
